Montevideo, Nov 13 (EFE). - Uruguay hopes to establish an air connection with China in 2018, in the framework of the celebration of 30 years of relations between both countries, highlighted today the Deputy Minister of Tourism of that country, Benjamin Liberoff.
He highlighted that one of the main objectives of this possible air connection is to attract, as a multi-destination option, a part of the 5 % of the 200 million tourists from China who travel to places outside of Asia, Europe and the United States, said the Presidency of the Republic.
Likewise, he said that the 26 hours of flight that separates both countries determines that the tourist offer "has to be chained" (multi-destination option) with that of other countries in America.
"We do not have airlines that we connect directly, we must do triangulation and that number of flight hours are not very motivating. in Asia and between 8 and 10% of them arrive in Europe and the United States, "he explained.
He estimated that Uruguay would be within 5 and 7% of the 200 million Chinese people who prefer other sites to the from Asia, Europe and the United States for what, in his opinion, "we must be prepared."
"We are looking at the preparation we have to do to aspire for them to visualize Uruguay as destination and, in that process, the first steps we took were to facilitate visa procedures. "
Likewise, he stressed the importance that between November and December the China-Lac business meeting in Punta del Este.
"Among other reasons, we are doing it with the market that is our main trading partner and is from the countries with growth of world's highest gross domestic product, "he added.
