Puerto Rico launches a campaign for tourists to help in the recovery after the hurricane

The Tourism Company of Puerto Rico (CTPR) today announced the first phase of a campaign to promote that both residents and travelers interested in contributing to the recovery of the island after Hurricane Maria, can join the rehabilitation and cleaning of its main tourist attractions.

The executive director of the CTPR, José Izquierdo, reported that the first phase of the program called "Meaningful Travel" (or "traveling with purpose") will be extended until the end of the year and includes an itinerary of dates in multiple attractions, such as parks, spas and historical monuments, among others.

The launch of the effort will start with the cleaning of the Caves of Camuy Park, the third system of The largest underground caves in the world, located in the northern region of the island.

This activity will take place from 8:00 local time on Thursday 16, until Saturday 18 of November.

Supplies and tools will be provided for all participants who wish to join this initiative on a voluntary basis.

The initiative will continue from the 27th to the 28th. November, when the Tourism Company will be able to receive volunteers at the "Crash Boat" beach in Aguadilla.
