Japanese machinery orders fell 8.1% in September

Orders for machinery in Japan fell by 8.1% in September compared to the previous month to 810.5 billion yen (6,134 million euros / 7,109 million dollars), reported today the Japanese Government.

Tokyo, Nov 9 (EFE) .- Machinery orders from Japan fell by 8.1% in September compared to the previous month to 810.5 billion yen (6,134 million euros / 7,109 million euros) dollars), the Japanese government reported today.

The decline in the indicator, which excludes orders from power companies and shipyards due to excessive volatility, contrasts with the increase of 3.4% month-on-month registered in August, according to the data published by the Office of the Japanese Cabinet.

In the manufacturing sector, the drop in orders for ceramic, stone and clay products, 51.8%, and those of the food and beverage industry companies, which plummeted 51.4% in relation to the previous month.

orders in the non-ferrous metals sector, on the other hand, jumped 197.3% in September and was, together with the oil and coal sector and transport equipment -where they rose 48.6% and 43.4%, respectively-, which made a greater counterweight to the generalized falls in the other branches.

In the non-manufacturing sector, mining decreased its orders 27.5% and those of the financial and insurance sector contracted 20.9%, while the electric sector saw their orders grow by 62.5% and the leasing of goods by 50.5%.
