E-commerce transactions grow 24% in Latin America and the Caribbean

Miami, Nov 22 (EFE) .- The transactions of electronic commerce in Latin America and the Caribbean made with the means of payment of Visa grew more than 24% in the first ten months of 2017 against the same period of 2016 and is expected to continue rising in November and December.

"E-commerce in Latin America and the Caribbean continues to grow strongly and we see that in most of the countries of the region there are double-digit increases over the last year, "Javier Vázquez, vice president of Visa Consulting and Analytics for America, told Efe Latin America and the Caribbean.

For this year, "once again, e-commerce is expected to boost the growth of cardholder consumption in these festive seasons as more consumers turn to their phones and computers to make their purchases, "he explained.

The last two months of the year are the most relevant for retail, as they concentrate the Black Friday (Black Friday) and Cyber �??�??Monday (Cyber �??�??Monday), which this year fall on November 24 and 26, respectively, in addition to the Christmas holidays.

In 2016 more than 13% of consumer spending in November was concentrated on Black Friday and Cyber �??�??Monday, according to Visa.

According to Vázquez, the segments where there was more growth in the month of November last year were expenses related to travel, department stores and electronics.
